Benefits & Incentives of Co-op Ownership
Prosperity through a Cooperative Economy
By becoming a Member-Owner of People's you become an owner of a local business! Being a co-op owner helps to strengthen the community by supporting the cooperative movement and sustainable business practices; local food systems through our direct market focus; fair trade through our rigorous sourcing and the presence of collective management models.
As a Member-Owner you are eligible to receive a small percentage of the total amount of money you spend at People's each year. When the store has a profit at the end of the year, our Finance team and Board of Directors determines what can be returned to the Member-Owners while sustaining a financially healthy position for the co-op.
Vote in our annual Board of Directors and People's Cooperative Community Fund elections as well as on broad scale issues as they come up. Through co-op ownership, nobody can can own more than one share meaning that each vote is weighed equally.
